Karin Kunrath Photography respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy policy explains what information I collect, why I collect it, how it is used and the rights you have in relation to your personal information.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Karin Kunrath Photography is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
Information I collect
I may collect personal information when you contact me, make an enquiry or book photography services. This may include:
- your name and email address;
- information about your event, project or photography requirements;
- dates and locations relating to a proposed or confirmed shoot;
- correspondence between us;
- information required to provide and administer photography services; and
- information you choose to provide when contacting me.
My website may also collect technical information about how visitors use the site through analytics technologies. More information about this is provided in the Cookies and Analytics section below.
If you become a client, photographs taken as part of your shoot may also constitute personal information where individuals can be identified.
How I use your information
I use personal information where necessary to:
- respond to enquiries and provide quotations;
- discuss, arrange and deliver photography services;
- communicate with clients before and after a shoot;
- provide access to finished photographs and client galleries;
- maintain appropriate business, financial and transaction records;
- protect the security and operation of my website and business; and
- understand how my website is used, where applicable and subject to the appropriate cookie choices.
I do not currently use information submitted through my enquiry form to send newsletters or other marketing emails. If this changes in future, this policy and any relevant consent arrangements will be updated.
Lawful bases
Depending on the circumstances, I rely on the following lawful bases for processing personal information:
Contract – where processing is necessary to respond to a request for a quotation, take steps before entering into an agreement, or provide photography services you have booked.
Legal obligation – where I need to retain or process information to comply with legal, tax or accounting requirements.
Legitimate interests – where necessary for reasonable business purposes, such as maintaining appropriate business records, responding to and managing communications, preventing fraud or spam and protecting the security of my website, provided those interests do not override your rights and interests.
Where consent is required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, I will ask for your consent.
How your information is stored and shared
My website is hosted by IONOS. Enquiries submitted through the website are stored within the website’s Elementor submission system and an email notification is sent to an email account used to manage enquiries.
I only share personal information with service providers where this is necessary to operate my website or provide my photography services.
These may include:
IONOS – website hosting and email services.
Elementor – software used to operate the website and enquiry form.
Pixieset – used to provide private online client galleries. Where gallery access or email registration is used, Pixieset may process information such as client names and email addresses.
Google Analytics – used to understand how visitors interact with the website, subject to the cookie and consent settings described below.
Pixieset confirms that client information such as names and email addresses may be processed through its service and that a Data Processing Addendum forms part of its terms for photographers acting as data controllers.
I do not sell your personal information.
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred internationally, I rely on the safeguards provided by the relevant service provider and applicable data protection law.
How long I keep your information
General enquiries that do not result in a booking will normally be retained for no longer than 12 months, unless there is a legitimate reason to retain the correspondence for longer.
Where you become a client, relevant information may be retained for longer where necessary to provide the service, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes or comply with legal, accounting and tax obligations.
Information stored by third-party services may also be subject to their applicable retention arrangements.
I periodically review the information I hold and delete information that is no longer required.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to help me understand how visitors use the website.
Where cookies or similar technologies require consent, they will not be used until you have made the relevant choice. You can change or withdraw your cookie choices where the website provides this facility.

Your rights

Not all rights apply in every situation, and some information may need to be retained where there is a legal reason for doing so.
The ICO specifically requires the right to object to be brought clearly and separately to people’s attention, hence that slightly conspicuous sentence.
